Back to Normal.... and Beyond!

We've made it thru the week from hell. The last three days were over 100 degrees and that is unusual for this area. This morning I woke up to clouds, rain, and a cool cool breeze. At 11am it was 63 degrees with 84% humidity.

The two shots below were taken through my dirty window when it was raining. (I like how the headlights reflect off the moisture.) You can see the rain drops on the window in the second shot.

Then a lightning storm moved over the area and we were without power for about 30 minutes. Very dramatic sounding. The picture below was "borrowed" from a local news site. (my camera is so slow it would be an accidental miracle if I captured it.)

Once the rain changed over to drizzle I took the opportunity to run to the store for a few things. I came back broke. Summer sales, doncha know. I did snag myself a summer hat for next year...$5. Now the challenge will be to put it somewhere where it won't get smashed. The second challenge will be to remember that I have it next summer.

Maybe you should tell us here where you put the hat so maybe someone will remember!!!.,..hahaha

Nothing like rain and a storm to freshen things up after a heat wave! I'm glad it's over for you.

I love the hat...

Gotta tell ya what happen... Today I am sitting in the car waiting for Rod to run in to get something from the store... This old man gets out of his old truck... He has this cowboy hat on... And I say that loosely because I'm sure at one time it had resembled a cowboy hat... This thing looked as if some gorilla played with it for several hours and then had an elephant sit on it for a few more... It had no shape left to it, it was just this straw THING sitting on top his head... I wanted to yell out to the old man... "You are lucky that you made it out of that car wreak alive"... But I figured he wouldn't "get" my joke... hehehe
I sure was tempted though...

Here is an ideal what and where you can put your hat at for next summer, hang it up on a bare spot on your wall after you had taken a glue gun to glued some flowers on it, but then when summer rolls around again you may hate me for even mentioning this to you cause your hat will look too pretty to be worn come next summer. lol

Enjoyed the photos. Isn't that green area, the area you showed awhile back and there was something going on, and you didn't know if they were going to build something there?

Had to laugh about forgetting you have the hat next summer...I totally can relate.

The green lawn is where the old house was deconstructed by one of our community colleges (they bought it).

What I'm concerned about is that one of the workers said the community college, which now owns two plots on the block, wants to buy up the entire block. If I have to move its going to be really bad. I periodically search rental ads and the rents have sky rocketed to unbelievable amounts. The ads use to try to entice people by giving a months free rent, etc. Now they don't have to give anything away. And they can charge exorbitant prices because people need a place to live after losing their homes to foreclosures. God bless the unregulated mortgage companies. That's what Republicans like. No government interference for the pursuit of greed.

Cute hat! What a deal you got! I like Rosy idea...the idea of putting flowers around the hat and hanging it on the wall. Very clever. And you'll never forget the hat.
