Watering the dirt

Normally I would probably have something sarcastic to say about the wasted water it takes to keep this plot of dirt wet. But I'm grateful for it. And I'm grateful for the automated sprinkler system that comes on twice a day in an orderly fashion. Thats because without this watering system, this corner of the block would resemble the dust bowl in The Grapes of Wrath. The plot has had top soil brought in and it was, of course, loose and prone to flight without the weight of moisture. Thank you.

Can you see what looks like a dusting of pepper in the photograph? Its not dirt. Its a flock of birds who decided to take a break on the top of the water tower. It looked kewl in person. It kinda loses its impact when you can't see the birds.
