Illustration Friday : Green

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
My first entry for Illustration Friday. There was finally a subject matter, Green, that triggered a memory for me... this frog, which was done several years ago. "Hey... He's green!"

This pastel sketch was inspired by a splattering of white paint and dirt on an old shovel sitting in a storage shed. Every time I went into the shed and looked at the shovel, all I could see was this frog grinning back at me. Since I'm such a quick study, after several months, I finally decided to 'record' my vision. And once my 'vision' had been done I could no longer see the frog in the paint splatter. I found that very interesting.... its very interesting how sight and mind work together. Or don't.

Does this mean you are just joining illustration Friday. I've been thinking about it, because it would make me draw...

I remember this guy and love your interpretation of the paint splatter.

Well... you don't have to "join", just post to your blog and submit a link to IF. Couldn't be easier. I've been lurking there for a while and always intended to submit things, but haven't. Until now. (oh.. if you subscribe to their notification email list, each Friday you will get an email telling you the subject matter for the week. Friday thru Thursday.)

Welcome to the posting side of Illustration Friday! What a wonderful little story. Leonardo da Vinci wrote on how the visually cultured even saw faces in the stains on the wall.

In any event, congratulations on such a success with your submission! It really is very charming and is nicely done.

On Erin's blog I could add a "copy" posting but there is no "copy" "Paste" thingie here. Is that intentional or am I confused?

Andrew, thank you for your kind words and the 'welcome'. Appreciate it.

MaeDellone...does Erin use blogspot? It might be the software here. I know I have to use the right side of the mouse to do my copy/paste thing. But I do that wherever I am at the time. Sorry about that.
