Yup, I know what you mean...

Not so much here in VT, which is one reason I like it and makes the below zero winters worth it (the not so hot and humid summers) but back in MA it would get like that and last... and last.... 70 or more at night is too hot! one house I lived in I'd sit on the basement steps and read, but even though it was cooler there it was still humid. It's mainly the humidity/dew point. Like it gets so hot in AZ and the SW but it's more dry. (my mother used to say 110 is STILL 110 dry or not!) and most people have AC. When my daughter lived in FL she hated it, most days you couldn't go outside and do anything and her electric bill was $500 some months from running the AC.
I never thought about a spray bottle, you could also keep one in the frige and switch.
It was up to 94 here a few days last week, and I mainly sat in front of the fan (though the hum and having things blowing around is annoying) and tried to read. Take up my mind and wait it out. My skin gets sore from sweating.
Hate to tell you but now I've been closing the windows at night and using blankets (and no fan) which is the way it is a lot of the time here. But, before you decide to move to northern New England, remember it gets to minus 35 sometimes and snows about 8 months of the year. Bet that sounds good about now...
I don't know about you, but when it gets hot and sticky having things messy bothers me more, and I try and do more to neaten up. Which, of course, leaves me all the more hot and sticky. Then when it's cooler I forget about doing it.
We're now into Leo, so only a few more weeks to go of hot. Don't you hate it when someone says how much the just LOVE SUMMER! Maybe those are the skinny girls who wear bikinis and hang out at the beach or lake.
