Sigh

This was suppose to be a pen/ink drawing with a loosely applied wash. Sigh. I tried a second one with no sketch, just the painting. Sigh again. I'm not even going to post that one.

Mom and the boys stopped by for a few minutes last evening. I couldn't get any pictures of the boys without them hamming it up. Darius' tee shirt says "I didn't do it." Appropriate.

They grow so fast. Its great when Darius comes running in with his arm held wide for a hug as he says "GRAMMA!!" I had to TAKE a hug from Vyron.

Oh the boys are looking so cute!!

Nice job on the house. I like it...I don't know why you don't...nice and loose and it sets a mood...like I could enjoy scouting around there.

Gosh they are getting so big.

Cute boys! You should post all of your work. I call my bad pieces "stepping stones". You need the bad ones to reach the next good on. Be proud of everything you do, they're all part of the process.

How cute they look...and I'm assuming they are happy where they are now!

I enlarged the sketch you did and I actually like it...I agree with Sandy about the mood it sets. I must say it looks familiar, the structure and setting.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone.

Cat's momma... I'm not surprised the house looks familiar... its based on one of your photographs. I made the back part of the house a little different. The real house looked like it had two stories (back part) and it was more delapidated. I went for simple.

I like this painting...I just have one little comment, (from big mouth here.) You could use a bit more value, like darken up the forefront a bit and darken the shadow on the roof. Yes, it has a soft quality to it. If you squint your eyes, you may see what I am talking about.

I am learning big time that light and darks is what it is all about....

Hope you didn't mind my comments...

That's what I thought I recognized, that dilapidated old house at the winery that I had photographed! Cool!

Thx for the suggestions, Goddess. I tried it and it did make it 'pop' a little more. I always appreciate suggestions for improvement.
