Want to increase your personal appreciation for art that others have created? Just try it yourself. BWAH HA HA HA HA HA HA
I consider this colored pencil drawing incomplete. The counter top needs improvement. And lets not even look at the cup handle (left side). Wait! I said lets not even look at it, okay? Instead, look at that apple. I like how the apple turned out.
It sure takes a lot of pencil to cover large areas of the background.
Phobe... I just saw a piece on Phobe Snow on Sunday Morning. Gawd, I love her voice. And the lyrics of her songs touch my heart each and every time. I am SOOOO glad she's back performing again. I remember when I was in my thirties I would play her songs over and over again. She's just awesome!! And what a strong lady. If you get a chance, check her out. If you like her, give her some support and buy her album. If you feel like it.
Putting art up here sure helps one get a more objective look at it. Sigh. At least I did something. (from a magazine photo)
Its rainy around here and it might even snow tomorrow... although it will be too warm for it to last. If it happens at all.
Wanda has got my taste buds all set for meat loaf and scalloped potatoes so when I went shopping today I got the necessary supplies. I've got some sweet teriyaki to use in it...yummmm.
What a sad little life. The only thing I can think of to talk about is dinner. I'll probably be going to bed around 3pm at this rate. But not to give the wrong impression... I'll take a "sad little life" over life's drama any time!!
This is my second try at posting something today. I hope it works. If it doesn't, I'll just try again later.
I tried to copy the technique of someone I follow on youtube, but its not happening. But I don't care. It is what it is and I have no shame. If nothing else, I did something. You know the old saying... "Do something! Anything!!" So I did.
Below is how I would like to leave things until I'm ready to use them again. Only on a much longer table. One not made of glass, too.
But alas... I must put at least some of the stuff away.
I used an ad in a magazine as a reference. I'm thinking of next doing a stylized version in watercolor. But anything shiny... or dull... could distract me.
I watched a youtube video of this older woman and thought the scene would make a good painting. I liked it. I had to use my memory and imagination, however. It doesn't look like the woman except she was sitting down, she had a scarf wrapped artistically around her head, and there was a vase with flowers behind her. But I got something done, so there's always that.
I've been feeling a bit blah so I decided to try some shopping therapy. I went to the dollar store. I don't think cheap therapy works as well as the more expensive kind. I mean if I went out and bought a new car, I bet my mood would be better. Buying soap just didn't thrill me the way it sometimes can.
Come on Spring!!
The first photo was blurry (post below)... I hope this one is clearer.
Watercolor, pen and ink.
Loosely based on a magazine photo of someone.
Guess who's getting more snow tonight. All I can say is DON'T CALL ME A SNOW BUNNY, DAMN IT!
The Mac. The Mac as she sat in the kitchen sink bathing. Skinny dipping with Cayden.
I did a simple outline drawing with ink pen then used watercolor pencils and a wet Q-tip. I'm not excited about the watercolor pencils but I am glad I've been able to try them out. I didn't get her 'look' either, but there's plenty of time to try it again. And again. And once more.
One of these days I need to stock up on the art work so when I'm transferring pictures from the camera to the pc its not just for one drawing or painting. That's not very efficient.
Asperagus. Done a while ago and previously posted. I wanted it hung.
You may have seen this effect on other blogs. You can go here to do one yourself. (first option "museums")
I'm still stuck inside the apartment waiting for the snow and ice to melt. There is light at the end of the tunnel because its warmed up and the snow is beginning to leave. Main roads are semi clear but the side streets are still a mess... along with the sidewalks. (Now they're saying there's a gas shortage because the tankers haven't been able to deliver anything.)
Its been almost two weeks since first 'stranded' inside. If you add the previous week that my daughter borrowed my car... its three weeks of being cooped up. I've napped myself silly. I'm down to Top Ramen Noodles and/or white rice. I need to get to the store soon.
I have no 'winter gear' because its not suppose to get so 'wintery' here. (DO YOU HEAR THAT, MOTHER NATURE... NO MIDWEST SNOW STORMS HERE!!) I wear sandals and I do not want to be walking in the slushy snow in them. The old toes get cold.
If I don't make it to the store today (after I get my car back), surely by tomorrow it will happen.
There hasn't been much to talk about lately. I'm out of coffee so must trudge to the store as soon as I upload this entry. The sooner I leave, the sooner it will be done. Push. Push. Must push myself to go out into the world. I guess it indicates just how much I would like a cup of coffee, doesn't it.
Traveling Goddess shared some photos on her blog of the workshop she recently attended. A few of us decided to use the photo of the model to see what we could butcher.
Here's (below) a quick sketch I did in a spiral notebook to see how it went, and it went fairly easily.
Below is the pencil sketch done on the watercolor paper.
Below is the painted model... no background.
My final version. I had to make myself stop before I screwed it up completely.
I almost screwed it up completely but made myself walk away from it.
I think I'm learning the difference between quality and cheap paint through personal experience. No 'flowing' pigment with this one.
Sigh. Now if I can just get one more done, I will be back on schedule. Wish me luck, although I'm not sure that is strong enough.
(In this case the model had a long face so the long face is on purpose.)
This should have been a 'snap' but it wasn't. The mark was missed, but the drawing got done before midnight. Oh... and by the way, have you heard? We have a new president. Go Team.
I'm rushing to beat the clock... to get something uploaded for the day. For the Creative Every Day project. Just doodles today. And again, I must apologize for the sucky pictures. (sucky's a word, right?)
After the Party.
(Sorry, I can't seem to get a picture that is not blurry.)
