January 1, 2006

Its interesting to note that its 2006 now when just a short time ago everyone was freaking out because of all the computer meltdowns that were suppose to happen when we changed centuries. Surprise! Nothing melted.

I watched one of my grandsons over New Year's Eve and into the day. Twenty five hours to be exact. It was all good, but time was up. I wanted my own life back. Actually, all I wanted was to be able to go to the bathroom by myself. Little things like that.

The boy had my full attention and total focus. We all need that sometimes. And he was able to do almost everything he wanted... but fortunately he doesn't talk too much so he couldn't ask for the moon. This is the perfect age. (Although his speaking is getting better... more words added to his vocabulary.)

In his own way, Darius had told me to turn around and look at the TV. He wanted to snatch the tube of potato chips that were on the counter. Little did he know, they were intended for him anyway, but that didn't stop him from looking a bit sly as he reached for them. He was all smiles when he realized he could have them.

I fixed him up his own little table, the TV stand. It was the perfect height and he didn't have to sit on two phone books.

Its great when they finally get big enough to enjoy playing in the tub for hours. However, his play time was cut short when he pooped in the water. Good thing I love the little guy... and I will be reminding him of this when he's older.

All cozy and clean and ready for bed.

The next day (that would be today) we took a short walk, the Michelin Man and me.

It was a great visit... but by the last hour I had run out of entertainment ideas and I did not want to be fed frosty O's any more. While waiting for his ride we sang his favorite song...Twinkle Twinkle Little Star as he lay in my arms like a baby. And that was his idea. I think we made it through the song ten times.
