Alberta Street Art Hop 2006

A community of artists has grown on Alberta St. in Portland. As with most art communities, it got its start because of very low rents. This portion of the street had been run down, with many vacant buildings, over the years. It had started to develop a reputation as drug alley. Now the investors and developers have moved in and I'm guessing the rents are already beginning to increase. It will be interesting to see what the street is like after a few more years.

In any event, this weekend was the Alberta Art Hop. It is much like the Alberta Last Thursday Art Walk only with more music. I drove down the street yesterday but it was too busy and I couldn't find a parking space. I returned today before it got really crowded. Here are some pictures.
