What if everyone associated with a political campaign had to take an oath of honesty. If found to have made a statement that wasn't true, it would result in a jail term. The possibility boggles the mind.
What if ethics became popular again. Or was it ever popular?
What if the general public actually began to use their own ability for critical thinking and could see past the bullshit.
What if manufactures stopped cutting corners by reducing the amount of material used for a product. For example, what if a bra had shoulder straps long enough that my tits didn't tickle my chins. (Now that's a short strap!!)

Things That Make You Go "Hmmmmmm"
I've been wonderin' lately and seem to end up going "hmmmmm" a lot.Obama has raised almost twice as much money for his campaign than McCain has and I'm a bit surprised since McCain has been in politics for such a long time. You'd think McCain would have raised more money, you know, cause he has so much experience. The only thing I could come up with is that he's a republican and you know republicans don't like to give up their money for anything. Hmmmmmmmm.
I wonder what it would be like to have a candidate, whether local or national, that you really wanted to win instead of casting a vote for the lesser of two evils. Hmmmmmmm.
I wonder what it would be like if campaign ads and appearances focused on issues instead of how to best bad mouth the opposition. Hmmmmmmmmm.
Lilly has come out with a Cialis that is to be taken every day instead of waiting until its needed. I wonder if they had "gobs" of guys writing to them asking for a daily dose so they would be ready at the drop of panties instead of having to wait 20 to 30 minutes to be ready. I mean, ohmygawd, what would they do for those 20/30 minutes? Have you met many men who would prefer taking 30 pills a month? I wonder what the cost difference is between say two to four pills a month verses 30? Hmmmmmmm.
I've been feeling like I'm living in the Victoria Age, except it isn't about hiding sex. Hell, that's tossed in my face whether I was looking for it or not.... but I keep feeling like society is trying to get everyone to be the same. Cloning would, perhaps, make it more easy to have a society filled with all the same kinds of people, but how boring would that be? There seems to be laws and petitions against any and all who do not fit within society's "standard". There's a state (I think its Arkansas, but I'm not sure) that has civil servants paying a monthly penality fee if they are smokers. Its getting ready to do the same for those who are overweight. Will they be doing the same for those who are underweight? Hmmmmmmm.
Insurance companies don't want to insure anyone who is not healthy. If they only insure healthy people, then what's the point? Hmmmmmmm.
And why can't the medical society explain why someone who has never smoked ends up with lung cancer? Perhaps its because they walk pass a smoker and was exposed to second-hand smoke for five seconds. Yeah, that must be it. On the other hand, how do they explain a person who has smoked all of their adult life and they don't have lung cancer? Maybe its because they just didn't live long enough. Maybe if they had lived until they were 90 or 95 yrs old they would have developed it. Hmmmmmmm.
And what's up with that study which showed smokers are more likely to eat at McDonald's than not. What is that suppose to mean? Did eating at McDonald's make them smokers? Or does smoking make them crave McDonald's? I could never figure out what the point of that study was, but I'm sure it cost money to conduct and analyze it. Hmmmmmmm.
Global warming is causing the glaziers to melt. I don't argue that we haven't been speeding it up... but haven't they always been melting ever since, you know, the ice age? Hmmmmmmm.
Sigh. I don't know.

Portrait of Picasso

Let the viewer see what they see. As for me, well... lets just say a picture is worth a thousand words. I have never thought much of the guy.... and I still don't.
I also have been totally boggled over how some untalented people become successful during their life times, while actual artists with great talent and skills do not. I guess its kind of like justice. Its just not fair.

Oh Dear... What Have I Spawned?
You remember the old adage, the acorn doesn't fall far from the tree? Well, its not always true. I have an acorn that has bounced out of the field, over the fence, has rolled down the hill and across an eight laned freeway. To say we live on opposite sides would be an understatement. If she didn't physically resemble her father's side of the family I would be shaking my fist (figeratively speaking) wondering who switched babies with me. As it is, I often find myself shaking my head mumbling 'where did she come from???? Surely not from ME!!'
She has started a political/opinion type blog (I think thats what it is) and I get an email notification whenever she updates it. I don't know where she got most of her beliefs. Surely within her stiffly tied republican persona is a little bit of humanity. Surely its in there some where? (Please don't take offense. I'm not pro democrate, either. And not ALL republicans are stiff and rigid. I've heard after they pass on, a lot of them loosen up a lot.)
Her current comments are regarding helping others. She doesn't believe in it. There was one point she made that I agree with, but her overall point of view is baffling to me. She apparently has forgotten all the help she has been given over the years in order to get where she is in life. And she clearly has no concept of how difficult it is to get a step up when you're starting at ground zero.
I don't leave comments on her blog because we simply have different opinions and I'm not here to change hers. Its all part of life... different strokes for different folks. However, I have no problem (so far, anyway hahaha) if someone wants to voice their view point in my comments section. Equal time, if you will. Just don't try to change me. Or something like that......

Ironic, isn't it.
Jay Leno has been blasting fat people with jokes for years. At times he seems to really abhor them because of the way the "fat jokes" get spewed out of his mouth. Now, don't get me wrong. If a joke is funny, its funny whether its about fat people or skinny people. If a joke isn't funny.... its just not funny and I don't care how many times you warp it. But anyway....
I found it so ironic when I saw Jay Leno on the news being supportive as he visited with the writers on the picket line, and guess what he brought them..... donuts. Donuts, fer gawd sake. hahahahahaha Now that was FUNNY!! Not to mention a bit ironic. 'Padding' his box of resource jokes, perhaps? Oh the irony of it all.

Those Sneaky Bas.... Marketing People
Have you begun to notice odd comments showing up on your blog? I'm thinking they are recruiting real people with the lure of false promises ('make over $200 a day for nothing.') to key in their ads on people's web sites/blogs. That way they get pass the pop-up ad blockers and the word verification filters. grrrrr.

All Ya Need Is Some Really Good Marketing
And some kind of "hook" helps.
"Filmmaker Amir Bar-Lev spent almost a year filming media phenomenon Marla Olmstead for his documentary My Kid Could Paint That. The story follows Marla, who became famous at age 4 for the large, colorful abstract paintings she may — or may not — have created."
You can read the full article here. Its not all that long.
I looked over her web site (link on the side of the article... you'll want your sound on) and watched two of the short videos showing her painting. This is opinion only, but I think someone else has touched up her paintings once she's done with them. I don't like liver, either.
There are so many excellent artists out there in the world, formally trained and untrained. I have and continue to scratch my head wondering why one person is 'successful' and others aren't. Marketing has got to have a place in there. That and the right vibrations, I suppose.

Taxes
Taxes.... additional cigarette taxes in particular. I've been working on accepting the tab for insuring all those little children who need health insurance. AFter all, someone has to foot the bill and who better than those horrid slimeballs that smoke. They are one group who are best capable of helping to get a tax passed. Its one of the advantages of having a group of people that the majority of society looks down on.
Besides, they are the group of people most able to support this additional tax. After all, if the wealthy could afford it, do you really think they would have gotten such a great tax cut this past term? And look at all the new jobs that have been created. Granted, most are minimum wage positions without health benefits, but what do you want.... surely not a living wage. Its the numbers that count, anyway, so when its reported that there is only a 4% unemployment rate most people won't think beyond that number. (I often wonder how many doctors and medical institutions invest in drug companies. What a circle of revenue that is.... doctors keep prescribing more and more drugs and this helps keep the dividends up.)
I had brought myself around to accepting the new taxes with only a slight grumbling. In fact, I was going to feel rightous about it. Someone has to take care of the children and their health needs.
BUT.... but recently I've heard that the feds want to add $.61 cents to a pack of cigarettes and the state where I live wants to add an additional $.85. WTF?!?! Thats a 47% price increase. (and if gas prices keep going back up, the retail establishments will have to up their prices AGAIN.) I can't afford that, so I'll be one more person who stops smoking. One less person to contribute revenue for health coverage. Health coverage that I'm not eligible for since I'm an adult.
Its like putting straw on a camels back. Yes, the camel can carry quite a few straws but soon or later he's going to fall over.
I hope this doesn't sound like I'm angry, because I'm not. I'm resigned... resigned to a capitalistic government. The others don't seem to work all that well anyway.
