Watercolor Video by Ng Woon Lam (6 min)

I really like his watercolors... very 'active'. And I'm always surprised at how it looks when he starts out and how it looks at the end. Very wet-on-wet, for the most part. And it all starts out with a good basic sketch.

(a small rant.... expertvillage puts up GOBs and GOBs of videos so they take up 20-30 screens to get thru them... and not one of them is over 2 minutes long. Couldn't they put up videos that are a little longer in duration so it doesn't take up as much space?! Geesh.)

Pet Portraits

A two minute video of pet portraits showing what can be done with color.

(And what's up with this... I put a search key in for "art paintings" on youtube and what do I get? Masterbation art. Geesh!!)

Loose and Free (2minutes)

I like how he paints so loosely. Thickly.

Watercolor Demo (4 minutes)

I like to watch Ng Woon Lam paint in watercolor. He also has some videos on youtube where he uses oil... but its the watercolors I like the most.

An Artist's Conversation - Video (8+ minutes)

This video has Naomi Frears talking about what inspires her and how she works. We get to see her painting in her studio. (I always like to see the environment.) Although 8 minutes might seem a bit long for a youtube video, when I watched it, it seemed to go by very quickly and I never thought about the time. (I liked this video even though some of the scenes looked like they were filmed with a cell phone. Perhaps this was done on purpose to make it seem more artsy. But what do I know.)

Looking to Loosen Your Painting Style? video

The video is just under 5 minutes and is in a foreign language (foreign for us Yanks, anyway...? is that an appropriate term, Yanks?). I enjoyed watching it because the woman looks interesting. Her painting is done completely spontaneously, as far as I can tell, and she uses arm-wide brush stokes for the most part.... in a very loose manner, to my untrained eyes. Just something I enjoyed watching and thought you might also. Viewing priority would be mid-range if the subject interests you and you have a few minutes. (I put that here because I get the impression that some of you have very full and busy lives. Actually, I'm not sure why I'm putting a disclaimer here. Never mind.)

Ree Brown - A Simple Life

Ree, folk artist. The video is about 10 minutes long. Many will yawn, but a few will see. I enjoyed it... a look at a simple life with many layers.
