Fake "Art"??
I came across a so called art site that looks like they've taken photographs and run them through an art software program to make it look like the pictures were painted. (I'm not talking about actually creating art using art software or taking created art and manipulating it... I'm talking straight up photographs (may have been cropped) made to look like they are painted.) I might have missed something, but I didn't see anything that said these are photographs made to look like paintings. It made me feel yucky. (sorry for the scientific terminology.) What are your feelings on this?

I haven't seen anything like that...but I don't have time to surf the net much. I depend on you and Sandy for links to things. If that's true, the least they could do is state that it's a photograph manipulated to look like a piece of artwork, otherwise it seems like what's the purpose.
I feel the same way you do. They are taking business away from real artists.
I wish you would have posted the link...
I have a friend in Texas who up till about 5 years ago was an "ok" artist. He drew charcoal sketches of people, and they were good, but not great. He recently sent me a disk of his artwork and it was "too good" if you know what I mean... I have a feeling that he has some kind of software that he is using to make people think that he has gotten that good... With the computer age, its hard to tell these days...
Miss P
Knowing a little about photo editing...first off I would never try to pass that off because everyone would know it wasn't me..hahah.
second, I didn't see a link.
the person should definitely say they are manipulating it...I"m not talking a little saturation here and there, but full on manipulation.....or if it's obvious and you know because of a certain pattern or something, then its' obvious...
hey Miss P, how are you, I never see you around anymore except here, have I offended you or something..ha!
I didn't want to put the link I was referring to up on my blog. I'm not sure why, but it didn't feel right to me. I must have had a ethical moment.
I'll email Miss P and Sandy the link so they can take a look. Maybe it won't seem the same to them.
Hey CC can ya send me the link so that I can seeee toooo.
Thanks.

I have a caricature message board and have run into this same problem. There is one guy on there who uses the liquify tool to manipulate photographs and then he uses filters to make it look more like a painting. Some of the other members have been really nasty to him, but he has never claimed they are anything but photomanipulations. Still, what's the point?
