I tried Wanda's (Brush Stroke from the Heart) recipe for pickled cucumbers.
Ohmygosh... was it ever GOOD!! I made it about four days ago, but didn't get around to eating it until yesterday so it had marinaded a while. Did I say 'ohmygosh was it ever GOOD?'
I got them out to go along with a sandwich. I finished it as dinner along with a few wheat thins just to sop up the juices in my stomach. To make sure you understand.... the pickled cucumbers were the main dish. The wheat thins were the side dish. Can you say 'slurp'. (burb)
I found this tri pod at the dollar store. I haven't hooked it up to the camera yet. I hope it works okay because I often have difficulty holding the camera still. If it doesn't, no big deal because it was only a dollar.
Speaking of dollars, we are one of four cities tapped to be a test city for a dollar coin. They've been tried before and it didn't catch on. This time they are using the 'green' approach. The coins will last decades and are recyclable. The dollar bill usually lasts about 21 months. I read somewhere that the only time a coin replacing a bill worked was when there wasn't a choice... when the bills were taken out of circulation. I hope the dollar coins will be a size that is easily differentiated between quarters and fifty cent coins.
I took a picture of a pineapple while shopping the other day. Not a good shot. I feel weird taking pictures in public.
There was one time, a long long time ago, when someone brought in a pineapple that blew me away. The color was magnificent. Purples, yellows, some green. All I could do was look at it with total admiration. I've never seen another pineapple as perfect as that one. I'm posting this picture because... well, because its available.

That cucumber dish looks good.
You've just reminded me its' been months since I've been in a dollar store. That could be an adventure today...I think I'm up for that...
Hope your weather cools down there and soon.
Candice just got home from Hawaii and she went to the Dole plantation she said that fresh ripe pineapple melted in her mouth. I had a missionary friend who had smuggled some fresh pineapple in from south America a few years ago and I embarrassed myself I ate so much of it... Ummmmmm... I can still remember just how good that was...
oh lordy... my mouth is juicing up just thinking about it.
The tripod was a good buy!
We went over to coins for $1 and $2 a few years back. Our smallest note is a $5. They also took away our 1 and 2 cent coins. The smallest cent coin is a five. The shops all round up or down to the nearest 5 cents. Nobody died or went crazy in the process, and it took a lot of shrapnel out of pockets :))
Hey CC glad you tried the cucumber recipe....I could drink that juice!
I want a slice of that pineapple!!
Those cucumbers look so darn good! I love them....
That pineapple looks good too! Nothing like fresh pineapple. Yummy!
I haven't looked to see what the recipe is for the cucumbers but it reminded me of how much I love them with tomatoes and onions and vinegar sugar and oil and lots of salt and pepper. Yum! Might have to make some now that you showed us this on your blog. I have had way too much of a sweet tooth lately and not enough vinegar stuff. Thanks for the reminder!
